EAMCET likely to go online in 2015

The 2014 edition of Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) will be held on May 17 and the results will be declared on June 9, announced APSCHE Chairman Venugopal Reddy.

According to the announcement, notification for the exam will be issued on February 9 and the results will be declared on June 9. However, the date mentioned may be altered depending on the schedule of the General Election that is likely to be held sometime in April and May next year. The exam will be administered by the JNTU Hyderabad while N.V Ramana Rao has been appointed the Convener.

Also, odds are high that starting from 2015, the test will be conducted online on the lines of BITSAT and CAT. Prof. Reddy also hinted that efforts to turn EAMCET into an online entrance test were on.
He also made it clear that students will be allotted sufficient time before any concrete decision is taken According to experts, switching it to an online test will significantly lower administrative and financial burden.

For deciding on crucial issues such as feasibility, connectivity and selection of centers, a committee will soon be formed. Meanwhile, some experts are skeptic about the practical aspects associated with turning EAMCET into an online test considering that power shortage is a massive problem in the greater part of rural India.

Prof Reddy has confirmed that the dates of the exam has been selected in a way so it does not clash with other important exams including IIT JEE, AIPMT, and so on.
