IIT Madras offers 2014 scholarship to Ph.D and M.S students, apply online

IT Madras, one of the foremost institute in technological education, is providing a golden opportunity to students for a scholarship. Scholars admitted to Ph.D. and M.S. programmes under regular scheme (fulltime) are eligible to apply for the 2015 research programme. IITM in its official research brochure has invited applications for financial assistance to applicants online for half-time Teaching/Research Assistantship (HTRA), before the last date.

The assistance will be given in the following manner:
For Ph.D

• In engineering and management for those with Master's Degree in Engineering - Rs 18,000 pm for first two years and Rs 20,000 pm for next two years
• In engineering for those admitted directly with B.E/B.Tech degrees with GATE/NET- Rs 16,000 pm for first two years and Rs 18,000 pm for next three years.
• In Sciences/Humanities & Social Sciences Management - Rs 16,000 pm for first two years & Rs 18,000 pm for next three years.

For M.S

• In Engineering/Management - Rs 8,000 pm for first three years.

Eligibility:
For Ph.D

• Candidates must possess a Master's degree in eligible discipline concerning the Ph.D applied for with a good academic record.
• A valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration.

For M.S

• Candidates should have Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any professional discipline of minimum four-year duration or Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with a good academic record.
• A valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration.

Selection Procedure: Interested candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria will be called for an interview or test as per the decision of the selection committee.
How to Apply

• Eligible candidates can apply online by filling the form in the prescribed manner.
• An application fee is to be submitted with a payment of Rs 200 online and Rs 100 for SC/ST/physically challenged & women candidates (non-refundable).

Important Dates:

• Last date to submit applications online is October 21, 2014. 
• Date of interview/test - November 21- November 28, 2014.
•  Selected candidates to join on January 6, 2015.
