IIT Madras Ph.D/ MS Programmes: Check out the scholarships offered


IIT Madras Scholarships

The Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT) Madras has released a scholarship notification, inviting applications for Research Scholarships 2016. The students pursuing their regular, direct, interdisciplinary, external/part-time Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) and Master of Science (M.S) programmes offered in the various departments for the Jan-May and July-November sessions are eligible to apply.
About the scholarship
Ph.D
The candidates should be B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc. graduates or must have acquired its equivalent qualification with valid GATE/NET.
The candidates will be provided Rs 25,000 per month for first 2 years and Rs 28,000 per month upto 3 years.
The candidates who have M.E/M.Tech/MBBS degree or its equivalent qualification will get a stipend of Rs 25,000 per month and Rs 28,000 per month upto 2 years.
M.S
The candidates who have completed Engineering / Management will get stipend of Rs 12,400 per month upto 3 years.

Eligibility criteria
Ph.D in Sciences:
The candidates should have master's degree in Sciences with a good academic record and should be having a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area.
Ph.D in Humanities and Social Sciences:
The candidates should have master's degree in a relevant discipline with a good academic record or its equivalent and should be having a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area.
Ph.D in Engineering:
The candidates should have master's degree in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record or a master's degree by Research in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record.
M.S Programmes:
The candidates having associate membership of the professional bodies will also be eligible for admission to the M.S. programme of their parent discipline, provided that they have a valid GATE score and have passed both part A and part B of the membership examination with a good academic record
